When i started reading the story i thought it was going to be just about a child who is trying to solve a murder of a neighbourhood dog. It didn't take me long to realise this was not just any ordinary child and that this neighbourhood was full of secrets. There is a distinct point in the story where i believe the story goes from solving the murder to solving Chris's life. I believe it is when Chris finds the letters from his mother that the murder of the dog is no longer important. It was just fate that the dog had to be murdered for Chris to write about it in a book, for Ed to take away Chris's book and for Chris to go looking around his fathers things to find his book and to come across the letters from his mother. I believe it is fate that brought Chris and his mother back together.
