The curious incident of the dog in the night-time is a touching story about a fifteen year old boy named Christopher John Frances Boone. As soon as I started the book, I knew Christopher was different than most children his age. He knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057, and detests the color yellow.
Not long after reading that Christopher has asspergers, I found out that Christophers mother had passed away, but something was strange about the way her passing was written. Christophers father did not let him visit her in the hospital when she was sick, he simply told Christopher to write letters to her and that he would bring them when he would go visit her. Christopher didnt even know the reason for his mothers death, he assumed she had just had a heart attack, but she was very healthy and in shape. I knew there was more to her death, I even thought she might have still been alive.
Awesome! cant wait for your next post.

ReplyDeleteI like the post and I agree with your comment about Christopher being different than other children his age because of his specific skills. Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteI think her father is hiding her death from Christopher. he didn't show enough emotion. Do you think this detail will be revealed further on?
ReplyDeleteVery interesting book, and I have to admit I was fooled to and thought Christophers mother was dead to at first, yet the truth was much more revealing.
ReplyDeleteVery true Sutton, I do think your questions will be answered when you read a little further into the book. Great question!
ReplyDeleteThanks Scott for your insightful opinion. I'm not whether it is right that he lied about his mother dieing. That's a pretty drastic lie that can ruin someone's life. I guess it's better in a way because Chris wouldn't understand why she left and would start blaming himself, which is in reality somewhat of the truth. I feel that Ed Boone suffered some sort of drastic emotional effect from his wife abandoing him and cheating with the neighbor. I got some sort of suspicion of that between the tenison Mrs. Sheras had with Ed
ReplyDeleteI agree with you completely! I think that lying about his mother's death is a very big deal but I also think that he did it with the best intentions toward Christophers feelings and understanding. Good job to look a little bit ahead from the clue of the tension between the two adults.
ReplyDeleteI'm still questionning why Mr. Shear's has so much hate towards Chris after he completed that long and grueling journey to London. Do you think he's selfish?
DeleteTrue, and eventually the truth WILL be revealed, and it seemed to deeply affect Chris' abandoning of his father, and lead to the events of what to come. It would be much more interesting if we got a more in depth story of how Chris' mother and Mr Shears interacted with eachother. Perhaps a prequel to the book will be released? I would read that.
ReplyDeletea prequel would be amazing to this story , id like to know how Chris and his relationship with his parents progress.
ReplyDeleteI would like to know how the Boone and Shears relationship progresses aswell. Perhpas the grudge is stll kept
